The learning curve
October 24, 2006My son, at daycare, is with about 4-5 other kids. Most of whom I know/recognize. However there are the odd times I don’t recognize who is who. So the babysitter sent home a cd-rom with half a years worth of pictures. I load it up on my computer when I get home and ask Matthew to look at them with me. So as they scroll thru I ask him “Who’s that?” and he correctly identifies everyone. But when we get to Seth he has a hard time saying his name “Who’s that buddy” to which he replies “Death”. Who?? Death… so he tries again “Steth”. Poor little guy after 5 or 6 times he can’t get Seth out correctly. Some name give him a hard time; His godmother’s name is tiffany which we shorten to tiffy. He adds his little twist to it and calls her “Stiffy”.
My Daughter. Not very lady like. She slept in our room last night. All she did was fart ALL night long. And these are not little baby girl farts, these are loud enough that mommy blames them on me. The other night they were sleeping together and she farted so loud it startled mommy awake. We’ll have to teach her that good girls don’t fart when she gets a little older.

Long time no post
October 18, 2006What is going on?
There are no new pictures posted, there is no new blog, there is no new nothing. Even the Blog templates have not been properly updated. Here’s the story. I have made a new month for Matthew but when I uploaded it, it looked like ass. The pics lost image quality and I have no idea why. I am finally tiered and fed up with using Word as a web editor. I’ve been tinkering in HTML code and FLASH. This weekend coming up I hope to convert/redo all the monthly galleries into a template flash slide show. This way the image quality will be there and it will be universal in All internet viewers. This means the two of you out there that have Macs can see all that there is to see without having to switch computers or load Microsoft internet explorer.
Baby talk… The other night… I went to bed in a funk. My son had a bad day, and therefore I had a bad day. He bitched, yelled, wouldn’t listen and I ended up yelling and arguing with him the WHOLE day. I went to bed feeling like both a bad daddy and a terrible person because I really didn’t like my son. The next morning, he woke up on the RIGHT side of the bed. He was happy, cooperative, happy to see me and to play with me. That’s my little boy. And as bad as I felt the night before it was all gone that morning.
Maya recently has been getting cuter and cuter. She can now carry on a face to face conversation with people. She goooo’s and gaaaaa’s and smiles back at you as you talk to her. So damn cute she is. However she too has a dark side. EVERY night directly after her bath she likes to test her lungs. Once she’s out of the water and wrapped in a towel she make sounds that are unlike anything I ever heard before. She screams as if I was dipping her in acid. And she loud! The neighbours thought that there was a cat being slaughtered in our backyard, but nope, it was her. So she lays there and screams until her throat is sore and/or until there’s a bottle in her mouth. We’re not sure if she screaming because she wanted to stay in the tub or because she burned off all her energy kicking in the tub and she’s literally starving to death. I’m going to have to capture video of this event, it’s quite amazing how something that small can make a sound like that.

Legal mumbo jumbo
October 10, 2006All weekend from Matthew it’s been “I can’t”. He has decided to be extra difficult. Not only does he not listen to a single word we say but he insists that he can’t! We’ll ask him to come here, or to pick that up, or don’t use your hands, or even do you want some candy, to each of these the answer is always “I can’t”. Terrible. Apart from shaking him what am I supposed to do? I can’t argue with his logic, he can’t. My only recourse so far has been to say I can’t when ever he asks me for something. He doesn’t appreciate being told that and yet still continues to use it on us. It’s not fair! He’s winning! Help us, someone please help us.

My son the model
October 6, 2006Since his birth, Matthew has been photographed A LOT. A few nights ago, I was shifting my photographic focus to his sister. Matthew was in the tub getting water on the floor as usual and I was out in the living room taking pictures of Maya. I lined up for a shot, zoomed in, focused, and fired off a shot. “CHEEEEEEEEEESE!!!” was heard bellowing from the bathroom as I took the picture. For all those out there on the photo forums that claim the shutter sound on the 20D is NOT loud, here’s definitive proof to the contrary. It’s loud enough to be heard over the sound of a bathroom fan, running water and the sound of water splashing on the floor, while in another room. That debate is over.
